Arizona’s safe haven law allows you to relinquish your unharmed newborn infant within the first 30 days after birth, no questions asked!

Where are the designated safe haven locations?

-Any Hospital

-Any On-Duty Fire Station

-Any On-Duty EMT

-Any Adoption Agency (must have signage)

-Any Church (must have signage)

Who may relinquish the newborn infant at a designated safe haven location?

-A parent or agent of the parent

Will I be questioned?

-As long as the baby is unharmed and appears healthy, no questions asked!

-Safe Haven location providers may ask questions regarding health of baby, past family medical history and prenatal care for the newborn.

What do I do, or say, when dropping off baby at safe haven location?

-Infant must be physically handed over at any location

-Must tell provider you are handing over infant under safe haven law

-Some hospitals within Maricopa County have safe haven drawers you may place the unharmed newborn infant in.

  • Madre, Padre o representante de los padres

¿Se me harán preguntas?

  • Siempre y cuando el bebé se vea ileso y sano, ¡no se harán preguntas!
  • Los proveedores de Safe Haven pueden hacer preguntas sobre la salud del bebé, antecedentes médicos familiares y el cuidado prenatal que recibió el recién nacido.

¿Qué debo hacer o decir, al dejar a un bebé en un lugar de refugio?

  • El infante debe ser entregado físicamente en cualquier ubicación de refugio.
  • Debe decirle al proveedor de salud que está entregando al bebé bajo la Ley de refugio de Arizona (Arizona Safe Haven Law)
  • Algunos hospitales del Condado de Maricopa tienen cajones designados de refugio donde usted puede colocar al bebé ileso.
